Read to Grow has a job opening for the coordinator (30-32 hours weekly) of our Books for Babies program. The position does not include benefits.

This managerial position is for one of the two programs Read to Grow has operated in Connecticut for the last 18 years. Today, Book for Babies is partnered with 14 hospitals where we deliver Literacy Packets to mothers of newborns on the maternity units. Branford Office Closed Dec. 24 through Jan. 3

The Read to Grow office and warehouse at 53 School Ground Road, Branford, will be closed for the holidays from Saturday, Dec. 24th through Tuesday, Jan. 3rd. Regular hours and operations will resume on Wednesday, Jan. 4th at 9 a.m.

Drop-off of donated children’s books can be made during the holiday closing at a marked Read to Grow bin, located in the back of the building at 53 School Ground Road, Unit 3.

Girl Scouts Collecting Books for Read to Grow

Starting on Tuesday, Jan. 2nd, Girl Scouts are collecting gently used and new children’s books for Read to Grow.  Donated books from the public will be collected from Jan. 2nd through Feb. 3rd.

The four specific locations in Connecticut for anyone to drop off books are the Girl Scout Service Centers in Hartford, North Haven, Waterbury and Wilton. The service centers are open Monday-Friday, 8:30 am to 4 pm. When planning any drop-offs, please call ahead to make sure someone will ...

This December, the Branford Rotary Foundation awarded Read to Grow $1,500 for programs serving the residents of Branford and surrounding communities.  The award is determined by the officers of the Branford Rotary Club and follows a presentation given to the club’s members by Roxanne Coady, founder and current board chair of Read to Grow.

Carly Simon Talks about Her Memoir “Boys in the Trees”

Carly Smon was the featured speaker in a benefit for Read to Grow on Sunday, Nov. 13th at the First Congregational Church of Madison.

The singer-songwriter talked about her new memoir in an afternoon conversation with Roxanne Coady, owner of RJ Julia Booksellers in Madison and founder-board chair of Read to Grow.

Four Free Workshops for Parents of Pre-Schoolers

Did you know that children are expected to enter kindergarten knowing 20 letters and 10 of their sounds?

“A Primer for Parents” is a free, four-part workshop series in New Haven offered Digital Literacy for Early Learners to help parents engage in educating their children, age birth to 5 years old. This engagement should help them to start kindergarten with basic skills needed in school.

Kids at PAL Camp get books

More than 350 kids at PAL Camp New Haven—run by New Haven Police Athletic League (PAL)—are getting books from Read to Grow! Sgt. Albert McFadden of the New Haven Police Department picked up the books on July 12 from Linda Sylvester at Read to Grow.  The camp, for city kids ages 8-13, runs July 5-August 5.
