Through Popcorn & PJs, families can join a virtual storytime featuring a guest author who brings their book to life with a live read-aloud. After the reading, the author answers questions, shares insights about the story, and leads a literacy-based activity designed to engage both children and parents.

How It Works

Popcorn & PJs is a seasonal monthly virtual storytime series that has been delighting families since 2021. Running each year from October through April, the program features a live Zoom event with a celebrated children’s author and one of their books. Each session includes a read-aloud, an interactive Q&A, and a fun, educational activity inspired by the story.

Families can register for individual Popcorn & PJs events or purchase a seasonal bundle. They may also choose to sponsor participation by purchasing tickets that are donated to another family served by Read to Grow. Each participating family receives a special package containing a copy of the featured book, a sketch pad, crayons, popcorn, and themed educational activities to enjoy together.

Popcorn & PJs is made possible through the generous support of corporate and community sponsors, individual donors, and grant funding. Their contributions help provide books, materials, and program supplies to families at little or no cost, ensuring the experience remains accessible to those who might not otherwise have the opportunity to participate.
